    frequently asked questions

    • Q. What are Group and Centre Based Activities?

They are structured supports that help you take part in social, recreational and community activities with others, either at a centre or out in the community.

    • Q. Where in my plan does this get funded?

Funding is usually in your Core budget under Assistance with Social and Community Participation. The Pricing Arrangements list specific group and centre based items and explain how they are claimed.

    • Q. How are group supports priced and claimed?

Current rules allow providers to claim the actual components of a group service. Claims may include the time a worker spends with you in the session, reasonable time spent supporting you outside the session, and in some circumstances centre based costs, all in line with the Pricing Arrangements.

    • Q. Is transport to and from a group program funded?

If you cannot use public transport because of your disability, your plan can include transport funding. The NDIS has also allowed more flexibility to use Core funds for certain provider transport costs linked to NDIS funded community activities.

    • Q. What quality and safety standards apply in group programs?

Registered providers must meet the NDIS Practice Standards and follow the NDIS Code of Conduct. If a behaviour support plan uses a regulated restrictive practice, it must comply with the Commission’s rules and oversight. These safeguards are designed to protect your rights, privacy and safety.
